RelmVision

June 29th, 2010 No Comments

So I decided to create a whole new YouTube channel, dedicated to remixes that I create. Sounds simple enough, but as many of you might be thinking (…and a lot of my friends have wondered this as well), why have more than one channel? The easiest way I can describe it is, it’s like when ESPN created ESPN Classic. Or CNN and CNN Headline News. The content is similar, but really doesn’t need to live on the same channel. Same goes for me, albeit on a much smaller scale. I’m calling it RelmVision, so head on over there and subscribe!

Why subscribe to channels on YouTube? Every single person I know has watched countless hours of videos on YouTube. Yet the majority of them do not subscribe to any channels, favorite, or ‘like’ any videos. They create an account simply to be able to watch the ‘18 and over’ stuff. That’s fine and all, but if you see a video you like, especially if it’s an original work, it’s likely you’ll enjoy more stuff from that person or production company. By subscribing to the channel that the video is on, you’ll see all the latest vids in your subscription ‘inbox’.

It’s very likely that you saw the Crush on Obama video in 2007. It was everywhere. If I hadn’t subscribed to Barely Political’s channel, I may have missed out on one of their current series The Key of Awesome, which in my opinion, is made up of the best musical parodies on the web. If you didn’t subscribe to OkGo’s channel when you saw Here it Goes Again, you probably missed a lot of their other genius videos and behind the scenes features.

I spend a lot more time on YouTube than the average person. And that’s not counting the time spent uploading videos or responding to messages. I’m talking about just viewing. That’s probably because I have a pretty good flow of videos that end up in my subscription box. YouTube is much more than just the memes you see on the news. I highly encourage subscribing to channels on YouTube, it’s really a great way to see more of what you like, as soon as it’s uploaded!

By the way, the ’subscribe’ button is located just above the video, underneath the title. A pretty good place to start is at the channels with the most subscribers in YouTube history.

Attack of the Show!

I completely flipped when I was asked to make an appearance on G4’s “Attack of the Show”! I’ve been an uber fan for a while. I mean, tech, comedy, video games, pop, news, and all things digital? They practically made this show for me! It was so much fun to shoot, shout out to Kevin Pereira for being such a great host!

So surreal to see myself on the AOTS set.

And as a bonus, a behind the scenes interview!

Sundance 2010

February 2nd, 2010 No Comments

Sundance was incredible. I waited 5 years to play there because I wanted my first time there to be meaningful, and it certainly was. For the first time in a while I’ve got thoughts I’d like to share that can’t be contained in 140 characters; trust me that’s rare these days. So my next few blog entries will be dedicated to cool people and things that have happened at Sundance.

First and foremost, G-Technology by Hitachi

It’s always a great thing when you can work with a company that you already admire. I’ve relied on G-Technology drives since they released their 500GB beast, and 10+ TB later they still haven’t failed me. So it was a pretty easy decision to go to Sundance with them. How cool is this exclusive G-drive Mobile package?

Gtech Sundance G-drive Mobile

Does that face look familiar? It also includes a video mashup I did specially for Sundance. Win. On top of that, my live performance was streamed and viewers won drives. Double win. As I got to know them, I came to find out that they are also great supporters of some amazing artists and projects. Take it all in at www.g-technology.com

They’ve also done a great job documenting some very interesting Sundance panels, premieres, and people on their YouTube channel.

The Webby Awards Recap

June 18th, 2009 1 Comment

The Webbys were an absolute blast! It was a dream come true for me, performing for a room full of people who have created most of my favorite places to go on the web: YouTube, Failblog, The Onion, Next New Networks, New York Times, Huffington Post, and of course a little company called Twitter. To add to the excitement, Martha Stewart, Trent Reznor, Jimmy Fallon, Sarah Silverman, Cameron Diaz, Charlie Rose, and Lisa Kudrow were also in the house.

I’d really like to thank everyone at the Webby Awards for making this happen, it was an amazing experience and the show just keeps getting better.

I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve been interviewed on the red carpet where the host actually knew who I was without the help of a publicist. Thank goodness for the lovely Shira Lazar, best red carpet host ever.

Seth McFarlane wasn’t able to make it so I got to step in and present his award the only way I know how:

And here’s my performance, thank you Webby Awards!

So the Lionsgate mashup I did for YouTube Live has won a Webby for outstanding creative content! I’m really excited; not only is this a great honor, I’m going to be doing a special performance at the Webby Awards in New York on June 8!!! Seth Meyers will be hosting, he was HILARIOUS last year!
