I completely flipped when I was asked to make an appearance on G4’s “Attack of the Show”! I’ve been an uber fan for a while. I mean, tech, comedy, video games, pop, news, and all things digital? They practically made this show for me! It was so much fun to shoot, shout out to Kevin Pereira for being such a great host!

So surreal to see myself on the AOTS set.

Sundance part 3…

When I met Chase at the Tweethouse at Sundance, he was introduced to me as a photographer. I don’t know a whole lot about the photography world, but I did recognize him from a short film he did for the Nikon Festival:

Chase is an absolute BEAST behind the lens, an artist’s artist. Take a look at his portfolio and you’ll recognize a lot of his amazing commercial work, and his Songs for Eating and Drinking is a concept unto itself. He and his table guru friend Michael Hebb serve dinner and drinks for some incredibly talented musicians, where they perform songs for each other, artist to artist, just like the old days before they had audiences to play for. Part 2 of my Sundance review…I was supposed to write more earlier but got sick, and you know how that goes.

I was fortunate enough to run into Oren and Justine Jacob in the lobby of our hotel at Sundance. Turns out they were in town to show of “Ready, Set, Bag!” which Justine directed and produced, and Oren executive produced. It’s a documentary based on the national competition for Best Bagger. As in, people bagging groceries for speed and accuracy. This film particularly struck a chord with me since I earned my stripes in similarly obscure competition; which was scratching records for speed and accuracy. I’m not sure what the film is rated (I’m guessing PG at the most), but I guarantee fun for the entire family, especially if any of you have worked in a supermarket (which I have). Sundance 2010

Sundance was incredible. I waited 5 years to play there because I wanted my first time there to be meaningful, and it certainly was. For the first time in a while I’ve got thoughts I’d like to share that can’t be contained in 140 characters; trust me that’s rare these days. So my next few blog entries will be dedicated to cool people and things that have happened at Sundance.

First and foremost, G-Technology by Hitachi

It’s always a great thing when you can work with a company that you already admire. I’ve relied on G-Technology drives since they released their 500GB beast, and 10+ TB later they still haven’t failed me. So it was a pretty easy decision to go to Sundance with them. Check out my latest collaboration with Chantal Claret! We used Google’s Nexus One, and since I’m the world’s worst dancer, I got my good friend Jon “Bionic” Bayani to do his thing!

In case you’re wondering, yes the video on the phone is the actual video being played on the Nexus, NOT added in post-production.

Dancers Wanted

Hello internet!

I’m looking for dancers. And by dancers, I don’t necessarily mean professional. I’m working on a video right now that involves dancing; I’d do it myself except for the fact that I cannot dance to save my life. That’s where you come in…

With your camera on a tripod or table, film yourself dancing for 10-15 seconds. Make sure your entire body is in frame. If you’re doing something that involves only your hands, you can just film that. All styles are welcome. If you’re not sure what to do, try some Michael Jackson, Beyonce or even Napoleon Dynamite moves. Feel free to use props. Remember, this isn’t a contest so have fun with it!

Please send as high quality as possible, HD is preferred but not required. If you’re using point and shoot style camera that records video, you can just send the entire file from the memory card. Upload the file using www.yousendit.com and send the download link to dance@mikerelm.com.

The deadline is Saturday, January 9, so get dancing! Please email dance@mikerelm.com with any questions you might have.
