It’s one thing to be a guest at the White House, but the guy skated down the halls! Tony Hawk has accomplished more than any other skateboarder ever will. Although this is probably not what you’d consider his ultimate crowning achievement, he should be getting nothing but major props for it.
The Webbys were an absolute blast! It was a dream come true for me, performing for a room full of people who have created most of my favorite places to go on the web: YouTube, Failblog, The Onion, Next New Networks, New York Times, Huffington Post, and of course a little company called Twitter. To add to the excitement, Martha Stewart, Trent Reznor, Jimmy Fallon, Sarah Silverman, Cameron Diaz, Charlie Rose, and Lisa Kudrow were also in the house.
I’d really like to thank everyone at the Webby Awards for making this happen, it was an amazing experience and the show just keeps getting better.
I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve been interviewed on the red carpet where the host actually knew who I was without the help of a publicist. Thank goodness for the lovely Shira Lazar, best red carpet host ever.
Seth McFarlane wasn’t able to make it so I got to step in and present his award the only way I know how:
And here’s my performance, thank you Webby Awards!
TOMS Shoes is doing what I would like to see more people doing. And that’s helping those in need. For every pair of shoes you purchase, TOMS will donate a pair to a child in need. One for one, It’s a great movement. So do something nice for yourself and others by picking up a pair at www.tomsshoes.com . As an added bonus, if you enter the promo code MIKERELM, you will receive $5 off your purchase. It’s great to be a part of this!
So the Lionsgate mashup I did for YouTube Live has won a Webby for outstanding creative content! I’m really excited; not only is this a great honor, I’m going to be doing a special performance at the Webby Awards in New York on June 8!!! Seth Meyers will be hosting, he was HILARIOUS last year!
The most important part of any project for me is the very beginning where I get to choose a direction to pursue. I’m one of those extremely fortunate people who has a great creative circle so before I begin any project I like to run my ideas past them and figure out what works and what doesn’t. It’s great for me because my good ideas get encouraged, but I’ve also had some wacko ideas that I’m glad never saw the light of day! Anyway, I’m about to begin production on my next record, and I would like to open my creative circle to you. Here’s my question: What style(s) of music and sounds would you most like to hear on my next record? You can be as specific as “make something like (insert DJ/producer here)” or as general as “just make a dance record”.Nothing’s off limits, I’ll do a standup comedy record if enough people want it. You can reach me on www.twitter.com/mikerelm, www.facebook.com/mikerelm, or directly at relm@mikerelm.com. I plan on taking your input very seriously, because at the end of the day this album is yours, not mine. Mike
Doug Cohen (Flüd Watches) just sent me what could possibly be the sickest time pieces on the face of the earth. Leave it to the man behind A Great Day in Turntablism to make a turntable watch classy enough to be worn with a suit! Even the cases they come with are dope (peep the pillow that “The Cartridge” rests on). Check out these bad boys and more at the official Flüd website. Thanks Doug!
Warning: this post contains graphic language, but this stuff is hilarious.
Most of you have probably heard the Christian Bale blowup by now. If not, click here . Basically, things got heated on the set of Terminator 4 and he went off on the director of photography for adjusting a light during a scene. I came across this next video, a hilarious response of sorts by Eric Christian Olsen on the set of “Fired Up”. I didn’t know much about Olsen before this but he wins points in my book for this.
